The Twinkie Times

The life and times of a Chinese American. Born a Jersey boy, lived the expat life, attended boarding school (Lawrenceville), converted to a frat boy (Sigma Pi), got an MBA (Columbia), returned to China, and back to the East Coast now trying to carve out an identity and life as an Asian American dad (gulp) in the midst of a "tertial life crisis" ©

Mifan Mama Nanjing

After helping to organize a very successful volunteering event at the office where we helped pack up Boxes of Love to bring a smile to orphans all across China during the holiday season, we wanted to help distribute some of these decorated boxes - filled with biscuits, treats, and a small toy.  Thanks to donations from my family and friends, we took a trip to Nanjing w/ 360 boxes to visit two orphanages.  Our last stop was Helen's House of Hope which operates a boarding kindergarten for deaf children whose parents are migrant workers.  They essentially get to see their parents once a year for a week during Chinese New Year.  The kids were so adorable and seeing their bright smiling faces made the round-trip 9 hour bus ride more than worth it.  For more pictures from the trip click here.
